1956 Höfner mod. 162 project

This is what the Hofner looks like after the first coat of light blue hammerite. The camera makes it look almost green though... Tomorrow maybe another coat of blue on the back and then silver hammerite on front.
Hopefully it'll look like this after that:

The last two images are from this great site: http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk

Blue Hammerite

Just bought some blue hammerite paint to start my Höfner mod. 162 restoration project.

Went a little crazy when I saw how awesome it turned out and went through the house looking for more stuff to paint...

yep, went CRAZY...

Silicon Jen Fuzz

This is the three silicon transistor version of the Jen Fuzz.
The transistors are one S33805 and two 2N5089's.
Trying to figure out what year this was made. My guess is late 60's early 70's.

Mike Oldfield's Aria Diamond AWF-2?

Ok, this is the story according to the guy I bought it from (who never mentioned any of this until after I had recieved the pedal) , don't really care if it's true or not. But it's a pretty great story anyway:

"I lived in Brighton in the early 70's and knew a guy who worked with Virgin founder Richard Branson. We went up to his large studio, The Manor House, one weekend as Jed (as my friend was called) would record an album and I'd help lay some tracks. Though we had a little fall out with this weirdo who was taking our studio time as he pleased, so one evening Jed stole this pedal that was lying around as revenge...

Anyway, six months later we found out that it was Mike Oldfield who had been there recording Tubular Bells."
